Just Add Ink Challenge #31

I know I'm a bit late with the Just Add Ink #31 Challenge. It's actually last weeks. I've had the real red, chocolate chip and kraft (soon to be called crumb cake) card stock sitting on my craft table all this time but I just couldn't work out what to do with them. I think I was struggling with the fact that there wasn't any whisper white, very vanilla or green.  This afternoon I decided that that was it... I was finally going to make something using only those colours.

This is what I came up with -

And the inside -

This card actually came together really quickly once I started. I'm actually pretty happy with how it turned as well (although I'm not too sure about the inside).

Will I use only these three colours together on a card again??? I'm not too sure about that, you'll have to wait and see :)

Just Jawing.....

Today I am sharing a card that was made with the Just Jawing stamp set. This set is on the Last Chance List. It is currently 25% off until it retires at the end of this month.

My friend Donna (hi Donna!) had been looking at this set for awhile and after seeing it was discounted, decided to finally order it. I, being the kind and generous friend that I am (LOL), offered to mount the set for her. Then all of a sudden OOOPS!!! it just happened to fall onto the open Basic Black stamp pad that was sitting on my desk. Well....what's a girl to do??? I couldn't waste that ink so I HAD to stamp it onto some whisper white card stock that just happened to be sitting on my desk as well :)

Now the first image that I had in my head for this stamp set was all rich razzleberry and dazzling diamonds. It's amazing how something can look so good in your head but once it's on paper ..... BLAHH! Then I had another idea and this time it worked!! Yeahh! :) I'm happy with how this turned out and I'm plan to give it to my daughter for her birthday in a couple of months.

Here's the card -

And the inside -

What do you think? I can't wait to see what you come up with Donna :)

A Scrapbook Page....

Today I thought that I would share a scrapbook page with you. The photo is of my sons when the youngest was only 5 days old. It uses my favourite colour combination of Brocade Blue and Chocolate Chip. I was really disappointed when I heard that Brocade Blue was retiring. Not to worry...I made sure that I've got plenty of it to keep my busy for a while.

I created this page as a Make & Take at my friends 1st workshop. There were only 3 guests, who were all experienced scrapbookers, so it made it a lot easier.

The tag behind the photo mat actually pulls out for hidden journalling. We punched it out with the large tag punch and then stapled some ribbon to it. We made this before I bought the scallop circle punch so we had to hand cut the flower from Petal Pizzazz. The punch makes it so much quicker and easier! :)

Have a good day!

Another Male Card.....

I thought that I would share with you today another card with retiring products. And for those of you that struggle with male cards, it may give you some inspiration as well.

You can check out the updated Last Chance List here.

Now this card is a CASE from the wonderfully talented Teneale Williams. You can see her card here. If you haven't seen her work before please check out her blog. I promise you won't be dissapointed.

Here's my card -

And the matching inside as well -

To make the tree multi coloured I used the sponge daubers. I use a different dauber for each colour. After dabbing it onto the ink pad, I then dabbed randomly over the stamp. I did that with each colour then "huffed" onto the stamp before stamping it onto the cardstock. Clear as mud I know! LOL If you have any questions or would like to book a workshop to see this technique in action please email me.

Check back tomorrow for some scrapbook pages we made in my friends (hi Ali!) workshop a little while back using my favourite retiring colour.

Old Meets New......

I finally got some time to sit down at my craft desk today and have a play with the special delivery that arrived earlier in the week.

One of the advantages of being a Stampin' Up demonstrator is that just before the new Idea Book & Catalogue is launched each year we get a sneak peak and the chance to preorder some of the things that are new in that catalogue.

I was very proud of myself as I only ordered one set. It's one of the new Level 3 Hostess sets called "Occasional Quotes". There is 12 stamps in this set and I promise you, you are going to LOVE it! There is a sentiment here for every occasion. If you'd like to find out how you can get the "Occasional Quotes" stamp set just send me an email.

Now, onto today's cards. Yes, not one but two today. Both are very similar but they have different "quotes". I've used both retiring and new products hence the title of this post, Old Meets New :)

I made these cards (plus 2 more) to donate to another Stampin' Up demonstrator who is holding a fund raiser for Ovarian Cancer Australia. My father passed away from leukemia 2 years ago while I was pregnant with my youngest son. He fought a very long, brave battle so I know first hand how devastating it can be to have a loved one with cancer. Obviously, I was more than happy to help this worthy cause.

The colours for Ovarian Cancer Australia is teal and white so that is what we were asked to use in our cards. Luckily, I have already stocked up on Taken with Teal as it is retiring at the end of this month.

and

Did you notice the sentiment is in two different colours? As I don't have the Stampin' Write Markers yet what I did was first inked up the stamp in Taken with Teal. Then where I wanted a word in another colour I used my blender pen uninked to "rub off" the colour. After cleaning the blender pen off on scrap paper I then used it again but this time adding the rose red ink and coloured in the words that I wanted that colour. You then give it a "huff" and stamp it onto your card stock. Presto! You have a stamp with two (or more if you wanted) different colours.

Have a good night!

Cottage Wall DSP 2......

As I said in yesterdays post, I'm going to miss the Cottage Wall DSP from the Autumn-Winter mini! I've used it on so many cards, 3D objects and even a mini album. I find that it works perfectly with both the Cottage Garden and Vintage Vogue stamp sets.

Here's my second card using using both Cottage Garden DSP and Vintage Vogue together............

This card is one that I cased from Sherri Barron. You can see her original card and video here.
So ..... what do you think?  Will you be stocking up on Cottage Garden DSP like me before the autumn-winter mini catalogue finishes at the end of this month?

There is one item that I'm really going to miss the most from the Autumn-Winter mini catalogue . It's the Cottage Garden DSP. I'm definetly going to be stocking up on it before the mini finishes at the end of this month. Even though one of the colours used in it is Orchid Opulence (retiring this month), it also uses Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry.

Auntumn Traditions.....

Today I have another card using products from the Stampin' Up! Last Chance List as well as DSP (Designer Series Paper) from the autumn-winter mini catalogue. This catalogue finishes on the 31st August so you only have a couple of weeks to order from it.

Here's todays card......

I love the colours of the leaves in the Autumn Traditions DSP.

To tie the bow on the front I used the double rectangle punch that is retiring from the IB&C this month.

If you can't live without chocolate chip ribbon I suggest that you order that quickly. It is retiring this year and won't be in the new IB&C.

Last Chance List...

For the next week or so I would like to show case some of the items on Stampin' Up!'s "Last Chance List". This is the Stampin' Up! retirement list and stock is only available until the 31st August 2010 or until sold out.

You can view the Last Chance List here

I would strongly suggest that if there's something you know you just can't live without, than make sure you order it sooner rather than later. Once it's out of stock, that's it, it's gone.

My card today would make a great card for a man. I know a lot of people struggle with cards for males and I've found that this DSP (Designer Series Paper) and stamp set work perfectly together. While the stamp set is not retiring, the DSP is. It's called Windsor Knot and is now only $12.71. A saving of 25%!

Here is my card.....

Supplies (All Stampin' Up!)
Stamp Set - Lovely as a Tree, Heard From the Heart
Card Stock - Sage Shadow (retiring) chocolate chip, whisper white
DSP - Windsor Knot (retiring)
Ink - chocolate chip, whisper white craft ink, versamark
Adhesive - snail, Stampin' dimensionals

Hope you like it!

All a Flutter 2

I know that I only posted a card with this stamp set a couple of days ago. But....hey!! When you've got such a beautiful stamped image why not make the most of it??? I still had the colours out from the Stampin' Up! in Oz colour challenge so I used them again too.

This time I thought I'd also post a photo of the butterfly close up to show you the detail. I inked the image in both versamark and then chocolate chip before stamping it onto the pretty in pink card stock. Then I heat embossed the image. Using my blender pens, I then coloured the image with regal rose and chocolate chip to give it more definition. Then I cut it out, used my Tombow two way glue and added Dazzling Diamonds for that wonderful sparkly look around the outer edge of the butterfly. Voila.....there you have it!

The front......

The photo really does not do this card justice. It looks so much more sparkly in real life.

and the inside.......

Because of all the sparkles on the front, I decided that this card really just need something simple on the inside.

Asian Artistry again.......

I love the Asian Artistry stamp set! Now that I've started using it I don't think I can stop LOL. This is my second card. I'm sure that there will be a lot more before the end of the month when the Autumn-Winter mini catalogue ends.

I really like the appearance of the stamped images in this set. It's more of a rough look, like it has been painted on silk, rather than a crisp image.

Here is the front.......

and the inside.........
I've already got another idea floating around in my head for the next one. So you'll have to come back and see what I come up with :)

Cardstock - chocolate chip, rose red, old olive and very vanilla

Asian Artistry.....

As soon as I first saw the Autumn-Winter mini catalogue I just knew that I HAD to have the Asian Artistry set. But there was a small problem... it is a level 2 hostess set which means that you have to hold a workshop with sales of $600 or more to be able to receive it. Such a dilemma. Do I spend $600 myself (not such a hard thing to do LOL) OR host my own workshop at my home. I decided  on the later but found that I was still short. Then my lovely upline (hi Nikki) came to the rescue and low and behold here is the beautiful Asian Artistry for you to ooooh and ahhhh over :)

I must say I've had this set for a couple of weeks now but with school holidays etc. this was my first chance to ink it up. I thought I'd better get a move on and use it before the mini finishes at the end of this month.

Here it is......

All a Flutter....

I couldn't wait to ink up my new All a Flutter a la carte stamp from the autumn-winter catalogue. To be honest, I didn't really like it when I first seen it in the catalogue but then I started seeing all these fabulous creations using it and it soon became one of my 'must haves'.

Next, I had to decide on a card design and colours. I'm part of a group of talented ladies called Stampin Up in Oz so I decided to combine a lay out and colour challenge from there. The colour challenge was to use chocolate chip, pretty in pink, regal rose and mellow moss. It makes it soooo much easier when it's decided for you :)

Here's what I came up with....

And the inside...

So, what do you think???

I'd love it if you would leave me a comment telling what you think or any suggestions.
